Mission

Our purpose and guiding principles

Mission Statement

CRI is a Houston-based, mission-driven research organization led by Dr. Asif Ali. It is focused on inclusive clinical trials, emerging med-tech validation, and translational cardiovascular research. The institute operates as a bridge between academia, innovation, and underrepresented patient populations.

Our Distinctives

Multidisciplinary Teams

We bring together MDs, PhDs, data scientists, and engineers to create comprehensive research solutions that integrate clinical expertise with technological innovation.

Translational Research

Our translational ethos moves research from bench → bedside → scalable health innovation. We don't just conduct studies—we ensure that research translates into real-world health solutions that benefit patients.

Houston Advantage

Located in Houston, Texas, CRI taps into diverse patient populations and premier medical hubs. Our location enables us to engage communities that are typically underrepresented in clinical trials, making our research more inclusive and impactful.

Equity-Centered Focus

We prioritize underserved, post-COVID, and dysautonomia populations. Our commitment to health equity means we actively work to bridge gaps in detection, management, and follow-up care for those who need it most.

Strategic Focus Areas

Inclusive Clinical Trials

Engaging diverse communities typically underrepresented in randomized controlled trials (RCTs). We design studies that are accessible and meaningful to populations that have historically been excluded from clinical research.

Post-COVID Dysautonomia Research

Focus on autonomic disorders, POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome), and long COVID syndromes. This emerging area of research addresses the complex cardiovascular and autonomic challenges faced by post-COVID patients.

Med-Tech Validation

Trials involving cuffless BP monitors, wearables, VR for CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), and other emerging medical technologies. We validate innovative devices and digital therapeutics that have the potential to transform cardiovascular care.

AI & Digital Health

CRI contributes to studies on AI-assisted diagnostics and therapeutics. Our work in artificial intelligence and machine learning helps advance the future of cardiovascular medicine through intelligent, data-driven solutions.

Health Equity

Emphasis on bridging gaps in detection, management, and follow-up. We work to ensure that all patients, regardless of background or circumstance, have access to the latest advances in cardiovascular research and care.

CRI Areas of Patient Focus

CRI is committed to Clinical Research Inclusivity, focusing on populations and conditions that have been historically underrepresented in medical research.

Focus on Underserved Populations

We actively recruit and engage

Female
Elderly
Minorities

Addressing Underutilized Therapies

Why CRI Matters

CRI is not a conventional Clinical Research Organization. Under Dr. Ali's leadership, it functions as:

  • A clinical innovation engine advancing the future of cardiovascular research
  • A testing ground for AI-integrated and digitally enabled therapeutics
  • A research equity champion creating space for underserved voices in trials
  • A network node within AHA, public health circles, and startup ecosystems

Our mission is to advance cardiovascular research through inclusive, innovative, and impactful clinical trials that serve all patients, especially those who have been historically underrepresented in medical research.
